As featured in the renowned magazine Casas de Portugal (Houses in Portugal), this stately home sits with pride of place at the top of the village – almost within reach of the famed Castle of Santiago do Cacém whose fascinating history spans from the Roman epoch to the Moorish invasions to early Christianity.

From its privileged position, this traditional home enjoys wonderful views across the rooftops towards the pretty rolling countryside of Alentejo on the one side and views to its majestic sandstone castle neighbour on the other.

Inside and out, this lovely rental villa in Portugal is a very special home. The genteel, traditional Portuguese country home architecture is at its finest here with scrolled stone details and impressively comfortable facades.

The gardens are sheltered yet sunny, providing a plethora of fruits for daily juicing or to pick for a poolside snack. A heated pool and private garden suite with its own access all add to the multitude of modern-day conveniences not often found in homes such as this.

Truly a one-off! Like staying in someone’s home. Its amazing. Truly a one-off. Like staying in someone’s home. Francisco is such an amazing host. He grew up in the house, is 7th generation of the same family stewarding the property. It's such a gem. The town sits atop this little knoll with the castle behind it. So quaint. We head out for our first tour now! Eric Lindberg
